Necromancer questions
Hi all. Im Princess Hellfury, aka KoC KingofCarnage. But that name was taken so...kinda stuck
Im a necromancer.
Ive got a few questions and wasn't sure which forum to post in tbh.
But before I ask it would be easier if I told you about myself a bit.
I came over from Dungeon Runners, Im currently on a trial account, but plan on getting prophecies soon and then eventually getting all chapters. For now Im just hanging out training to get a headstart before I get the game.
Now for the questions.
Necromancers Skills..
What are the best skills to have equipped for a starting Necromancer? I know it depends on play style so I'll say mine is to kill as quick as possible.
Should I go necromancer for primary and secondary? (I already did but was this a good idea, need to know if I should restart before I get to far.)
Oh and don't be fooled by the name I am a guy. But all the good names for dudes were taken so just chose a woman.
Where can I sell accumulated items?
Are there any necromancy tricks I should know?
Frequently asked questions perhaps?

hi, welcome to guild wars
im assuming your trial account is prophecies right?? If so necromancer is a great class, their primary attribute called soul reaping gives you energy every time something dies around you. I would focus on spending your attributes on one class, like blood, death, or curses, and the rest of your points into soul reaping. Starting out, you dont have access to alot of skills, so you just kinda have to bare with it for a while, jsut experiment as much as you can. gw.gamewikis.org is a great site for learning everything about the game, and if you click on the pvx link you can find great builds (specs) that ppl use too. As far as damage does, necromancers are more of a support class than damage, although there are exceptions. Pure damage, your best bet would probably be elementalist. A great secondary profession to choose is either monk or elementalist. Monk will give you access to good healing and protection spells, although you should really get in the habit of letting the monk in your part heal you (henchmen possibly), and focusing on doing damage, or other support. Elementalist is great for one skill, Glyph of lesser energy, which is very nice for energy management early in the game. You can sell your items to a merchant, you will find them in towns, or outposts. The best thing you can really do tho to get good is read the skill descriptions, and really try to understand what they do, and thinking critically about making effective skill combinations, and how and when you time the use of those spells.

hey well welcome first off ... played dungeon runners didnt like it much (not coz of playstyle but coz of the constant switching of items available to free players) but yeh gw is sorta like it... and for ur question Necromancers have 3 main uses... 1 as a blood spiker (not always said spiker sometimes spammer) they spam blood magic skills that use life stealing which ignores armor and such does a set amount of damage these r usually fastest at killing outriight, however you also have death magic which deals in minions and shadow/dark damage some skills are also armor ignoring but can be conditional (requirements that need to be met) minions with the right combination of damage buffs can be big hitters, curses is more of a damage denial or damage reflecting sort of line with big healths degeneration skills, overall for fastest killing i would say bloodmagic or pure death magic without minions (discord is a good elite) for support i would say blood wells/ necro/ritualist builds and for partywide damage minions masters... hope this helps!

See I like the damage of some skills but running in as a low defense necro is stupid. The skill I like (Vampiric Touch, Im assuming the more powered up version of vampiric gaze) gives the health back though. Im thinking about going blood and soul.
Also for my secondary quest...I thought I was double necro already but I have to do the quest. I was thinking about going NecroWarrior..
This would combine a nice heal charge along with soul reaping along with defense and a nice slash attack...
Necrorrior is how I would name it..
Thoughts on the overall idea?

There is no such thing as double Necro.

This works now because everything is so weak that the weaknesses don't show. When you get to lvl 20, running into melee is suicide. Without protection spells on my Warrior, I took a 400 damage hit in HM. You would have only had half the armor I did, so it would have been an instant kill to you. It doesn't work.
Also, remember that you're choosing a PRIMARY and a SECONDARY. Not 2 professions. You are a Necromancer, and regardless of what your secondary is you shouldn't change your playstyle because of it. The secondary is there to pick up one or two skills to round off your build, not to try and mash two conflicting playstyles together.

The correct term would be 'meleemancer'.
EDIT: Next time, make meaningful thread title, so people actually have some remote idea what the thread is about.

As much damage as soon as possible? I submit N/Me with Arcane Echo + Necrosis; lots of damage even on low rank. It also doesn't require attributes so there's a lot of freedom. When you're high level you can throw the Echo away and start looking for better alternatives.
By the way, no matter what purpose you're trying to fulfill Enfeebling Blood is a priority for any bar.

You shouldn't be asking for builds but, the campfire guidelines are here and the Necromancer guide is here

This can't be done. You pretty much have to choose a secondary which later in the game can be changed, there is also no obligation to use skills from your secondary profession.

None that aren't common sense. One worth mentioning is blood magic is normally really really bad in PvE.
Also.. Avoid N/W like the plague (Basically what Marty said). There is absolutely NO benefit of it nor use from it. Don't make the mistake of listening to the random people that will surely post here and preach about how great it is either.
